Breathe new life into your lawn with Overseeding with Aeration
At Andy's Lawn & Snow , we believe in giving your lawn the best care possible. That's why we're excited to offer our Overseeding with Aeration service - one of the most beneficial treatments for your lawn's health and vibrancy. By controlling soil structure, creating growth pockets, and opening airways for water and nutrients, we'll help your property thrive like never before.
Our expert team provides a comprehensive aeration and overseeding process that unlocks the full potential of your lawn. This dynamic combination rejuvenates your lawn by reducing thatch build-up and alleviating soil compaction. Trust us, it's the #1 thing you can do to enhance your lawn's health and beauty.

The Overseeding with Aeration Process
Here's how it works:
Aeration: We use specialized equipment to extract 2 to 3-inch plugs from the soil. This process allows seed and nutrients to be absorbed, promoting healthy growth over time.
Overseeding: We drop premium seed while the aerator's tines generate the plugs. This innovative method ensures optimal seed-to-soil contact, enhancing germination and maximizing results.
September is the ideal time for overseeding. Combining overseeding with aeration improves seed-to-soil contact, crucial for germination. This process creates a moist and protected environment, optimal for seedling growth and development. By allowing the seeds to fall into the holes made by the aerator, you ensure better seed-to-soil contact, promoting the growth of a thicker and healthier lawn.
Our minimum starting price is $195.00 which is based upon up to 7000 sq ft. The actual cost is based upon the square footage of the lawn and the section that you want overseeded.
4 Benefits of Overseeding with Aeration
1. Relieves soil compaction. Compacted soil can prevent air, water and fertilizer from reaching your lawn’s root system, causing dead spots, patches and/or thinning. By removing cores in the aeration process, soil density is decreased, thus relieving compaction.
2. Direct seed to soil contact. By dropping the seed directly into the Aertion plug holes we are ensuring there is direct seed to soil contact. This helps with germination and root establishment below the surface.
3. Overseeding with Aeration builds a thicker lawn. It helps improve water absorption and stimulate a deeper root system. Aeration stimulates root development and growth, but cool season grasses need overseeding to help fill in bare spots and thicken up the turf, which helps crowd out weeds come spring.
4. Prepares grass for winter dormancy and a green spring. Before your cool-season grass goes dormant, make sure it’s in tip-top shape by pairing fall overseeding with fall fertilization. Planning for aeration and fertilization in the fall gives cool season grasses enough of a buffer to protect the grass from summer drought stress and ideally enough time before the first winter frost arrives.
FAQs: We've Got You Covered
When can we go on the lawn after aeration?
Limit lawn activity for the first 4-6 weeks after aeration and overseeding to allow optimal growth and establishment.
When can we mow?
Wait until the new seed has germinated and grown higher than your regular cutting height. For example, if you usually cut at 3 inches, wait until the lawn reaches around 3.5 inches. Additionally, avoid mowing when the soil is still wet to prevent damage to the delicate new growth.
Why is lawn aeration and overseeding recommended?
Due to the three-year drought our region has experienced, the soil has become excessively dry, lacking nutrients, and highly compacted. We strongly recommend aeration and, in some cases, overseeding simultaneously to address these issues.
What benefits can I expect from aeration and overseeding?
Customers can anticipate improved soil structure, enhanced nutrient absorption, and healthier grass growth. Overseeding further helps in thickening the lawn and addressing any bare patches caused by the drought. Combining these two services, homeowners can revitalize their lawns, promote healthier grass growth, and counteract the negative drought effects.
